Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop & Lyrical Instructor/Choreographer

Mary Bourne Roberts grew up dancing at Eastern Shore Dance Academy from 1999-2010. After graduating from Spanish Fort High School, she attended the University of Alabama were she majored in Dance and Business Management. During her time at The Capstone, Mary Bourne continued her training daily in ballet, jazz and modern under the direction of Cornelius Carter. Throughout college, she was a member of Dance Alabama!, a student produced and choreographed bi-annual show, and Alabama Repertory Dance Theater, a pre-professional company featuring the work of nationally recognized faulty. Mary Bourne began teaching lyrical and choreographing competition solos at the Academy of Ballet and Jazz in Tuscaloosa, AL, and spent her summers teaching recreational jazz and hip hop at Kanakuk Kamps in Missouri. After graduating in 2014, she trained with the Dance Theater of Tennessee, a professional ballet company in Nashville, TN. From 2015-2017, Mary Bourne was the head ballet instructor at Destination Arts Center and Advance Dance in Greensboro, NC. She also taught children's classes, competition classes, and founded Advance Dance's first ballet competition team White in Greensboro, Mary Bourne's interest in dance extended past the studio when she began working, then managing, Carolina Dancewear, a popular dance retail store that serviced North Carolina and surrounding areas. She has trained in fitting pointe shoes, was responsible for ordering merchandise from reputable brands, such ad Capezio and Bloch, and catered to the needs of teachers, parents, and their dancers. Mary Bourne is so excited to the opportunity to teach as ESDA, the studio that instilled the love of dance within her!
